Godparents are entrusted with the responsibility (along with parents) of raising the child in the Catholic faith; passing on the heritage of our faith. Choose Godparent(s) who will be a real and long-lasting help in the Catholic-Christian formation of your child. At least one Godparent should be over the age of 16, Confirmed in the Catholic faith and currently practicing their faith, including weekly mass attendance.  Others must be baptized in a Christian faith.

First Reconciliation/First Eucharist

To receive the sacrament of First Reconciliation and/or First Eucharist (First Communion), the Archdiocesan guidelines recommend that children be in second grade or higher and have at least one sequential year of prior Religious Education experience in addition to the current year’s instruction. Involvement in a parish Religious Education program, a Home-Study program or attendance in a Catholic school serves as experience. Preparations for these sacraments usually begins during 2nd grade.
