From the Deacon’s Desk 5/12/19

Dear Friends:

The Gospel today is from John 10:27-30. It’s only three verses. Those three verses are really packed tight. Since the beginning of time people have worshiped many different gods. All the gods I have heard of never talked to the people! Not so for our Father who speaks to us in both the Old and New Testament. Not so with Jesus who speaks to us extensively throughout the books of the New Testament!

Jesus said in today’s Gospel, “My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.”

Not only does God speak to us, he gives us eternal life. I’m sure you’re aware that this is just one example of how Jesus speaks to us. The fact that God loves us enough to send his son to be one of us is mind-boggling. The fact that he wants us to live with him for all eternity is beyond anything we can imagine.

That, however, is our God. He loves us enough to invite us to spend eternity with him. He’s waiting to hear from us. Will we accept his invitation?

Peace and All Good! Deacon Jim
