Dear Friends:

HE IS RISEN ALLELUIA, HE IS RISEN ALLELUIA, ALLELUIA! Happy Easter! Today we celebrate one of the greatest feasts of our faith. We celebrate Jesus rising from the dead after being murdered on Good Friday. Jesus triumphs over all those who took advantage of him, who tortured him, who would not or could not believe in him. Today Jesus brings to us the accumulation of his entire ministry! Today Jesus fulfill the prophecies written about him throughout the Old Testament. Today the Son of God proves to the world who he is and why he came to be with us! His friends and disciples are totally mystified. It will take a little time; and with the help of the Holy Spirit, they will understand what Jesus said and did while he was on earth. For some, it will come more easily and quickly; and for others, they will struggle for a while yet.

I think it’s the same for us. We know what Jesus stands for. We have over 2000 years of history and scholarship to help us grasp the message of Jesus, and yet we all struggle at one time or another with that message. This is totally understandable, and our good Lord knows that we will struggle with the message of love so deep it rattles our very being. Jesus does not demand that we understand him totally or what his mission is. He does ask us to keep on keeping on. He asks us to keep trying to comprehend a little bit more of him and his ideal. Isn’t today a great day to start that?

Jesus has risen from the dead, alleluia! Now it is our turn to rise to the occasion and give to the world the message Jesus gave us: love, gentleness and everlasting life.

Please continue to pray for those who are affected by the Covid 19 virus that has invaded our world. Also ask the Lord to take this virus from our world soon.

Peace and All Good!

Deacon Jim
