Baptism

Baptism for children under 7 years old.

Attendance at one baptismal preparation session is required before baptism can be scheduled. Preparation may begin at any time during pregnancy.

Choosing a godparent(s) for your child is an important duty for parents. Godparents are entrusted with the responsibility (along with parents) of raising the child in the Catholic faith, passing on the heritage of our faith. Choose godparent(s) who will be a real and lasting help in the Catholic-Christian formation of your child. At least one godparent should be over the age of 16, confirmed in the Catholic faith, and currently practicing their faith, including weekly mass attendance. Others must be baptized in the Christian faith.

To register for the baptismal class and schedule a baptism, please call Diane Lewis at 410-676-5119, ext. 115, or email Diane.Lewis@archbalt.org. You can begin the process by completing the Baptism Registration Form to request a baptism. The registration form as well as the other required documents must be returned to schedule the pre-baptismal class and baptism.

Baptism Registration Forms

Baptism for over the age 7

Baptism of a child aged 7–17 follows a process different from infant baptism or adult baptism. We fully initiate children aged 7-17 who need baptism into the Catholic Faith, ensuring they receive the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. For all three sacraments, preparation is required, and the child usually receives their sacraments at the Easter Vigil Mass. For more information, contact Diane.Lewis@archbalt.org. or call 410-676-5119, ext. 115.
